Watch Skylar’s first co-directed short film, using Maybe We Should Run Away From Here as the soundtrack. Inspired by the 1970’s and a euphoric feeling of freedom, this film is a dreamy adventure from middle-of-nowhere America to the beach.

WAX LIPS

Wax Lips is bubble gum, heart break, and power all at the same time, fusing Skylar’s dreamy-pop style with an alt-rock edge. Wax Lips is a metaphor for someone who lies and is also the name of a vintage candy. Following suit with the double meaning of the hook and title, the whole song is written completely around metaphors of candy, relating something so sweet to the devastation of a breakup (lol that sucks). This idea became a recipe of irresistible melody and creative instrumentation. 

Wax Lips was written by Skylar and Ben Lowrimore, and it was produced by the acclaimed funk-pop, Neo-Soul guitarist and producer Jude Smith. The two met on a live Instagram video after Jude rose to Instagram stardom with his unique guitar skills, and, hearing her sing, invited Skylar to Nashville to record! Even though Skylar got a speeding ticket driving on the Interstate for the first time to get to Nashville, she said it was 1000% worth it. Skylar produced the Wax Lips Official Music Video, adding to her repertoire of creative directing, casting, costuming, and set designing her own surreal visuals!

SWAY!

SWAY! is Skylar Capri’s debut single and has amassed nearly 200,000 streams on Spotify alone since the release, being featured on Spotify’s Editorial Playlist, Soda. Her music transcends into the pop and alternative pop realm, bringing her own unique style of melody with distinctive velvety vocals, a strong pop beat, and dreamy synths. Her well-crafted verses bring listeners into her storytelling, and her euphoric hook is so catchy; everyone wants to SWAY! ;)

SWAY! is accompanied by a dreamy, fully choreographed, and pastel, vintage-themed music video (see below) which was creative directed, casted, set designed, and costumed by Skylar in partnership with Videographer Kenny Manuel (additional credits linked in video).
